Physiotherapy assessment

and treatment

I am able to offer a comprehensive assessment and treatment of all women's health issues that affect the musculoskeletal system. These include conditions such as pelvic pain (both pregnancy related, and not), vulval pain, pelvic floor muscle weakness, pelvic floor muscle overactivity, issues with bladder and bowel control, and vaginal prolpase. An assessment lasts up to 60 minutes, and will include a treatment plan and home exercises. Subsequent treatment sessions will be up to 45 minutes long.

Acupuncture

I often use acupuncture as a treatment, or as a part of treatment with my clients. Acupuncture can work brilliantly for pain relief, muscle spasm, and trigger points. Acupuncture sessions are also 45 minutes long, and at the same fee rate as Physiotherapy. A trial of acupuncture needs to be carried out prior to proceeding. It is recommended that an initial block of 6 acupuncture sessions is booked, in order to see the potential benefit. Ideally these initial appointments should be one week apart.

Mummy MOT

I am a recognised Mummy MOT practitioner, and am able to offer assessment and treatment of all musculoskeletal problems relating to pregnancy and birth. A Mummy MOT package lasts 1 hour 15 mins, and includes a postural screen for musculoskeletal issues, a pelvic floor check and an abdominal muscle check for separation. Appropriate exercises will be prescribed and a treatment plan suggested if ongoing appointments are indicated.

Clinical Pilates

I use Pilates based exercises frequently in my treatment and in home exercise programmes. I now offer Pilates 1:1 and small group (5 people max) classes in Hadleigh. These include classes for beginners and for pregnant and postnatal women. Please contact Hadleigh Physiotherapy for further information.
